The most anticipated wedding of the season took place this week when fashion icon and reality TV star Paris Hilton wed venture capitalist Carter Milliken Reum in an ultra lavish ceremony which took place at the former Bel Air estate of the bride’s late grandfather Barron Hilton, the successor to hotelier Conrad Hilton.
Paris described her big day to be “a true fairytale wedding.” “My next chapter as a wife is going to be the best yet,” she said.
The couple got engaged in February when they took a trip to a private island to celebrate both of their birthdays. “Carter had scheduled a beach photoshoot for us,” Paris recalls. “But as soon as we stepped onto the sandy beach, Carter got down on one knee. The biggest surprise of all was when our families popped out from their hiding spots. It was so magical to share our moment with the people we love.” The engagement ring was designed by Jean Dousset, the great-great-grandson of Louis-Francois Cartier. The 15 diamonds circling an engraved letter P with a sapphire in the middle was inspired by classic Art Nouveau aesthetics of the Grand Palais in Paris.
The proposal and the wedding is to be televised in a reality programme Paris In Love which is available on streaming platform Peacock. The new docu-series will chronicle a personal side of Paris that she typically reserves for family and friends.
Hilton and Reum held their bachelorette and bachelor parties in a joint celebration in Las Vegas back in October. The festivites continued with a whimsical Alice in Wonderland fête for the hotel heiress’s bridal shower.
The wedding date was inspired by Paris’s favourite time of the day: 11:11. The DJ and businesswomen launched her new media company, 11:11 media this year as well, and Paris in Love was also premiered on the day of her wedding. Paris told Vogue, “It’s my reminder to make a wish and be open to miracles. This date is special to Carter and I—it represents our love story, which both of us knew was meant to be.”
On November 11th, Paris walked down the aisle wearing an enchanting timeless custom Oscar de la Renta gown while Kim Petras sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The inspiration behind Paris’ makeup look came from none other than her all-time icon, Marilyn Monroe. For her wedding day hair, Paris chose a classic updo. “We wanted Paris to look fresh and chic. The dress is such a masterpiece, we didn’t want to overdo the glam. We kept it clean and simple,” said the bride’s celebrity hairstylist. The glam team composed of hairstylist Eduardo Ponce and makeup artist Steven Tabimba who helped Paris bring out her bridal glow.
The breathtaking wedding gown featured an elegantly embroidered high-neck, lace sleeves, cascading pressed flowers and a full ballgown skirt. She paired the look with dazzling diamond earrings who her stylist, Sammy K, helped her select. Paris had three equally stunning looks for her reception where she wore a Galia Lahav gown for her first dance with Reum, followed by another Oscar de la Renta, and finally a custom sequin and pearl embroidered Pamella Roland.
“My dad had the sweetest reaction to seeing me in my wedding dress. It was the most wholesome moment. I felt like a little girl again seeing the sparkle in his eyes. It was so obvious how proud he was,” said Paris.
After the couple were pronounced husband and wife, they made their grand entrance into their reception party where they had their first dance to Bruno Mars’s “Just the Way You Are,” followed by a special performance by Demi Lovato of “I Will Always Love You.”
Reflecting the morning after her wedding, Paris said, “I’ve lived a very unique life in the public eye over the last two decades and throughout the years, I was always searching for my partner. Not only someone to share my dreams with but a man to build a future together. I was looking for my equal. Someone who wasn’t fascinated with “Paris Hilton” but instead, someone who saw the real me and loved me for me. I’m so proud of my love story with Carter, and even more excited that it’s just beginning.”
